"Date With Destiny" Was Destined To Be An Instant Classic With A Championship Main Event
April 28 (Merrillville, In) – The ground floor of the Hammond Civic Center shook when two of the world’s best woman’s fighters made their entrances and the thousands in attendance for the “Date With Destiny” World Championship Main Event rose to their feet and exploded, but it only got louder when the bell rang and an instant classic was born.
“Merciless” Mary McGee (17-0, 10 KOs) vs. Kristy “Rose” Follmar (16-2, 9 KOs) put the world of boxing on notice with their spine-tingling 10-round Main Event bout for the vacant WBC International Super Lightweight World Championship and McGee’s NABC Lightweight World Championship, as McGee brought her second world title back home to Gary, Indiana with a legendary majority decision with the scorecards reading 95-95, 97-93 and 97-93.

Electricity In The Air As Fighters Weighed-In For Their "Date With Destiny"
April 25 (Merrillville, In) – Just a night before their world championship showdown at the legendary Hammond Civic Center, undefeated NABC Lightweight World Champion “Merciless” Mary McGee (16-0, 10 KOs) and WBF Light Welterweight World Champion Kristy “Rose” Follmar (16-1, 9 KOs) glared into each other’s eyes for the last time at the official weigh-ins @ Langel’s Pizza before their “Date With Destiny.”
McGee, a former Gary Roosevelt High School student, and Follmar, a Hanover Central High School graduate, will square off for the vacant WBC International Super Lightweight World Championship and McGee’s world title in a Main Event that will bring the region to its foundation.

Fighters Set For Official Weigh-Ins At Langel's Pizza On April 24th At 6pm
April 20 (Merrillville, In) – The official weigh-ins for “Date With Destiny” are set for Friday, April 24th at 6 p.m. @ Langel’s Pizza, 2833 Highway Avenue in Highland, Indiana. There are seven professional bouts scheduled for this breathtaking night of championship boxing, including three special amateur fights.
“This is going to be an electric weigh-in with (Mary) and (Kristy) getting that last look at each other,” said Octavius James, C.E.O. of One In A Million Inc. “Rodney Langel has been nothing but accommodating as he provides such an incredible environment for our weigh-ins and without his help and Miller Lite, this weigh-in wouldn’t be possible.”

April 14 (Merrillville, In) – “Date With Destiny” will have its share of world class talent on display at the Hammond Civic Center on Saturday, April 25th, but there will also be non-perishable food containers located at the main entrance as Octavius James’ One In A Million Inc. and the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana have combined forces to knockout hunger in the region.
“We definitely appreciate the support we have received from One In A Million, because to get that support means a lot,” said Chanda Dixon, Food Sourcing/Volunteer Coordinator for the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana. “All proceeds are going towards a worthy cause and people around the area that really depend on our food pantries.”

February 27 (Merrillville, In) – The Hammond Civic Center 5825 Sohl Ave, a 71 year-old 4,000 plus seat arena, has hosted some of the biggest boxing events the world has ever seen, including a notorious 10-round fight between Carlos “The Force” Tite and “Choir Boy” Mike Landini on March 22nd, 1985.
Octavius James’ One In A Million Inc. will look to add to the long lineage of great fights and bring the Age of the Super Fights back when they return to this legendary venue on Saturday, April 25th, 2009 for “Date With Destiny.” The doors open at 6 p.m. with the first bout scheduled for an 8 p.m. bell.

This will give Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana fight fans an opportunity to meet all the fighters scheduled for this electric card, while the Miller Lite Girls will also be available for pictures and there will be plenty of chances to win some prizes throughout the night.
