Michael “Quiet Assassin” Parker has this calming demeanor to him, but when he lets his hands fly he becomes lethal. The tall and imposing Highland resident has been nothing short of spectacular in his first seven professional fights, as all but one has ended in a first-round knockout.
Out of his seven professional fights, Parker has just 11 rounds of ring experience, but has displayed his fair share of leather.
"I try to take something from each fight but with each of the early ones ending so early it was hard to work on things," Parker said. "In the last one I showed I could do some things besides knock people out. Each fight is a learning experience and I know that I need a lot more fights before I get my self in line for a belt of any kind."
Parker made his professional debut on November 15th, 2005 against Jeff Blair at the Radisson Hotel at Star Plaza in Merrillville, Indiana. He wouldn’t be in the ring long, as he knocked Jeff Blair in the 1st round (1:05) declaring himself a real big problem for heavyweights around the world.
“Parker is extremely intimidating when he steps into the ring,” said Parker’s manager and C.E.O. Octavius James. “He has this very calm look at all times and that has played a huge role in his phenomenal start to his career.”
On February 9th, 2007 at the Radisson Hotel at Star Plaza in Merrillville, Indiana, Parker had a minor setback in his career. In the 1st round (0:40) against Carl Gathright, Parker injured his knee not only declaring this bout a no contest, but also sidelining Parker for 18 months.
Parker would return to the ring in emphatic fashion, as he dominated Eric Critterdon all the way to a 1st round T-KO (2:50) at U.S. Steel Yard in Gary, Indiana.
"We are planning on keeping Michael busy," said One In A Million" CEO Octavius James, the guiding force behind Parker's career.
"Next year we'd like to get him six or seven fights and get
a chance at a state title then a an NABF title. Michael got a late
start but thing he's got going for him is a tremendous work ethic."

Background
Michael Parker is a 1992 graduate of Thornridge High School in Dolton,
Illinois and currently resides in Highland, Indiana with his wife
and children. He works as a cable installer and is known in One
In A Million circles as a hard worker and a devoted family man.
"One of the things that impresses me about Michael is that he is such a family oriented individual," James said. "He' s a well grounded individual who know what he wants and is now going about achieving his goals."
"I like being with One In A Million. They keep me busy, which I like. I got kind of a late start in boxing and I have some time to make up for." Parker said. "Another six or seven fights this year sounds good to me. This time next year I'd like to be fighting for some kind of title, a state title or one of the regional belts. Whatever comes up I'll be ready for it."
Parker is not a new comer to boxing. He fought three times in the Chicago Golden gloves and sparred numerous rounds against quality fighters such as former light heavyweight champion Montell Griffin.
"I think my experience as an amateur can only help me," Parker said. "Now what I need to do is get the work in and continue to improve and get good fights. It's something I'm ready for."
Parker is one of many local boxers who combines a job, family, and boxing but Parker said the time juggling is something he has become adept at.
"Everybody involved has been so supportive of me," Parker said. "Boxing is a dream of mine and it's something that I am pursuing with everything I have. When you have a dream like this you learn to manage your life and make things work out best for everyone involved."
"Michael will not back down from any challenge," James. Said. "He's got a lot of talent and we're working with him to get the most out of his ability. He comes to the gym and puts in his time in training. He keeps working like this then we'll be in a good position to get a championship match within a year or so."
"Things are going well," Parker summed up. "In this business you have to think big or you might as well get out of it. I'd like to fight twice a month and get myself in position for something big to happen. A championship is what I am after and with the help of One In A Million; I see no reason why I can't get there. I don't have any timetable for success. When it happens I'll be ready for. it and stay humble."
