“Shay is a fighter that his alias just right on the nose, because he is absolutely Marvelous to watch in the ring,” said Mobley’s manager and C.E.O. of O.I.A.M. Octavius James. “He is incredibly talented and one of the building blocks of One In A Million.”

Since starting his career with a four-round unanimous decision victory over Dione Craig on June 7th, 2002, Mobley has shown flashes of power to go with his lighting quick hands in his 28 professional bouts.

On January 14th, 2005, Mobley highlighted an action-packed card at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago against his personal friend Miguel “Macho” Hernandez on nationally televised Telefutura’s Solo Boxeo De Miller.

Mobley made good on his amazing opportunity as he earned an eight-round unanimous decision over Hernandez. Hernandez was on a eight-fight win streak entering this bout, but Mobley cooled the talented Chicagoan.

Mobley has been in the ring with and held his own against the likes and of Roman Shkarupa, David Estrada, Matt O’Brien and Donovan George. Mobley’s fight with George may have brought the most controversy to Mobley.

The pair shot many sharp words at each other leading up to their August 4th, 2007. George was even quoted as referring to Mobley “As a dead man walking!” George would get the best of Mobley, but Mobley would bounce back with a four-round unanimous decision over Jerome Elder.

Background
Shay Mobley was born on the south side of Chicago, Illinois on February 9th, 1977. Mobley currently resides in a small city of just 12,620 people Markham, Illinois.

The “Marvelous” one has a huge following in his hometown of Chicago thanks to his solid amateur background including his many successful runs in the Chicago Golden Gloves. Mobley competed in the 1999, 2000 and 2001 Chicago Golden Gloves, but just fell short in the finals during his last two attempts.

“Like every boxer, Golden Gloves played a huge role in who I have become today,” said Mobley of his amateur experience. “It’s just a special time for any fighter, cause you’re out there fighting for pride and a title and money is never in the equation.”

Like many youth growing up on the south side of Chicago, Mobley used boxing as a way to keep him on a good successful path. “There are plenty of temptations out there and not the good kind,” said Mobley of his neighborhood growing up.

“There are good people where I’m from, but I needed a little extra to keep me from straying off the path,” Mobley added. “Boxing was great outlet for me.”

“Shay is a huge part of One In A Million,” said Octavius James. “He is a true warrior and to come from the south side of Chicago, you have to be tough.”
